GunCAD Wiki:Style Guide
This is a WIP style guide for editors and contributors
Overview
Here's the short of it:
- Mission statement is in GunCAD Wiki:About, go read that
- We're a wiki, not an infodump:
- Don't make a "SuperGuy200's Print Settings" page in the root namespace, keep it under "User:SuperGuy200"
- All articles should be written in an encyclopedic tone, except guides, which can be somewhat handholdy
- While we're talking about guides, abide by the the title restrictions in Category:Guides when making one
- Use passive language, not sensational
- Be bold. Don't feel like you have to run every change by me -- I'd rather people made contributions than didn't. There's a matrix link on Main Page if you wanna drop by and have a chat. Go to General.
- Categories must all be plural, except:
- Categories for organizations ("GunCAD Index", "Black Lotus Coalition", etc.)
- "Meta-Categories" like "Stub", "Needs Work", etc.
- Use the Category:Glossary if it's appropriate. Don't spam it, abide by usual wiki first-link policies (only glossary lookup on the first instance of a term)
- Do not add things that aren't domain-specific jargon to the Glossary
- Use the citation template always. It is subject to change
Common Templates
These should be helpful to contributors:

| Template:Stub | Add it to the TOP of an article if it's a stub and needs expansion |
| Template:NeedsWork | Add to the TOP of an article if it needs general work, like cleanup or corrections. Feel free to add TODO annotations in the article |
| Template:NeedsWorkNotWiki | Add to the TOP of an article if it needs work to meet encyclopedic tone standards. Guides are somewhat immune to needing tone standards but should still try to be formatted like an article |
